Power, Voltage, and Size: What It Actually Means on the Bench
Let’s get into the guts of it. Most of these units run at 2500W, 400V, with a tube that’s about 300mm long. That combo gives you a lot of heat from a short package. Perfect when your real estate is tight. And here’s why we run at 400V: it keeps the current lower than a 230V option would. That means less voltage drop, and you can run thinner wiring inside the fixture. But—and this is important—400V means you have to take insulation and safety clearances seriously. If you’re spec’ing a 400V, 2500W lamp, your control panel and connectors need to be rated for it. No cutting corners.
The Materials and Design: Halogen, Quartz, and the R7s Base
