What’s Inside the Lamp?
Here’s the thing about these lamps. They’re serious workhorses. You can run them at 400V or 230V, pulling anywhere from 1500W to 2500W of power. And it all fits inside a 300mm or 350mm quartz tube. The medium wave spectrum hits its peak around 2.4 microns. That sweet spot gives you a great balance—it penetrates just enough, but the heat is absorbed right at the surface. Perfect for heating up crystalline and amorphous materials without overshooting your target. Plus, the high voltage means the current draw is lower. That lets you use smaller wiring and cuts down on resistance at the terminals.
The Build That Takes the Heat
The quartz tube itself is no joke. It handles temperatures over 1000°C and lets that infrared energy pass through with no problem. Inside, the halogen cycle keeps the filament clean. It regenerates itself, which stops the lamp from blackening and keeps the output steady for thousands of hours. We’ve fitted the tube with R7s end caps for a solid, two-point mount. It’s a straight swap for existing fixtures, but heads up—this thing runs hot. So you need a fixture rated for the wattage density, and you absolutely need to give it enough clearance to breathe.
