Introduction

We built this halogen heating lamp for one purpose: blowing machines. It’s a 460mm, 1000W workhorse, designed to be a direct-fit heat source for heating PET preforms. When your work depends on predictable temperature rise and repeatable output, you need a lamp that can handle the pressure of the cycle. This one does.

The Heart of It

We went with a 1000W rating for a reason. It gives you the heat density needed to reheat preforms fast, without pushing the heating zone too hard. And the 460mm length? It’s the perfect match for the standard heating window on most blow molding equipment. You get even, consistent coverage across the preform’s shoulder and body. The payoff is simple: your cycle time stays on track, and the machine doesn’t have to compensate with longer dwell times.

What It’s Made Of

Halogen technology is the backbone here. It keeps the quartz envelope stable at high temps and cuts down on blackening over time—a big step up from standard infrared. The shortwave output hits the preform surface fast, so the heat transfers right into the material with almost no lag. We also chose an R7s base. It’s a proven, rugged connection for linear lamps. It’s easy to wire, sits secure in the reflector, and is built to handle being inserted and removed, over and over again.

Real-World Performance

In a blowing machine, a lamp has to survive a lot—rapid heating and cooling, plus constant vibration. This lamp is engineered to be a straight drop-in replacement for those 460mm, 1000W halogen systems. That makes maintenance a lot simpler and keeps downtime to a minimum. Here’s the thing, though. With this kind of heat density, you get strong, fast heating. But your machine’s cooling and reflector airflow need to be properly set up to handle the surrounding heat.
