It’s the difference between a warm breeze and a heat lamp that really bites. Let’s talk power. 500W is a sweet spot. It gives you that quick ramp-up time without blowing your circuit breaker. But here is a heads-up: these things are sensitive. If your voltage is jumping all over the place, you’re going to fry the filament. Seriously. Use a stabilized power supply. It’s a small investment to make sure your lamps don’t pop the second you flip the switch. What’s happening inside the tube? We use high-purity quartz for the envelope because it can take a beating. These lamps go from cold to screaming hot in seconds, and quartz doesn’t crack under that kind of pressure. Then there’s the halogen gas.
